Ray's Aquatics Struggling

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

Edit Update: The Store will be closed Dec. 14th for 8 days at least, maybe thru Christmas. Check their facebook page or google maps to see when they re-open. They are having some unexpected remodeling done to their store. The place should be better than ever upon reopening.

Ray’s Aquatics has been open now for about 5 months and unfortunately, they are struggling. Apparently, their financial backer backed out and the store has devolved a bit because of housing issues. They lost their apartment when the roof caved in; I know, crazy. The other issue is supply chain. Anthony Ray, the owner, is selling his fish shortly after they come in, so it looks like his tanks are bare. Not so, he is having difficulty getting the fish in the first place. While I don’t know exactly what his challenges are with stocking his tanks, I am sure it’s a combination of factors. If you’d like to comment, please do so on my Facebook post.

Despite the challenges they face, this LFS is top notch. Not in appearance or stock, but in care and quality. There are many factors that make a good LFS. The skill, care, and quality of the merchandise, especially the livestock, sets one store above the next. Anthony knows how to care for fish, both fresh and saltwater. While the merchandise aspect is a bit sparse, I still recommend this LFS. Don’t judge a book by its cover! I had high hopes for his store, and I still do, it just looks like it will take a bit longer for them to find their stride. Check them out and give them as much support as you can. I will certainly be doing the same.
