While visiting my favorite LFS, Aquatic Dog, I discovered we have a new LFS only 3 miles away. On a side note, the owners of Aquatic Dog are looking to retire, so their store is available for the right price. Anyone interested please contact Greg or Sheila at their store. Obviously, after hearing about the new store I drove right over. Upon entering, I am impressed with the nice size and layout of the store. They were in the process of making room for more tanks which will be in the center of the store. I got a nice panorama so you can see the whole layout. Their specialty is saltwater, though they did have a section of freshwater fish available. So, I would say it is 20% Fresh and 80% Salt. This seems to be the trend in LFS from my observation. They offer the full range of services for saltwater. It is a family run store, and they got their start doing installation and maintenance for mostly saltwater aquariums. Anthony also worked at a LFS for a while, so they have good experience.
The store is well laid out and the tanks are in fair condition. Several needed cleaning and were perhaps cycling. From what I saw they had their hands full with a child and a full store of tanks and just the two of them. I think he has some part time help, but I am not positive about that. The shopping center where they are located is nice, so the store is in good condition. The fish appeared happy and healthy. If I was in the market for a saltwater set up, I would not hesitate doing business with them. From my chat with them they know their business. As you may or may not know, I am all about supporting LFS’s. Go check them out and perhaps you’ll find that perfect fish, coral, or something you have been looking for.
