Neptune’s Tropical Fish is located at 1970 E. County Line Rd., Unit A, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. Their hours are Mon-Sat 10-5, Sun 12-5. Neptune’s is a complete all around local fish store. The only fish they do not carry is goldfish or monster fish. Not sure why I was surprised to see a nice selection of cichlids, but there you go. They have the small to mid-size cichlids. They were unboxing a shipment of fish when I was there as you will see in the photos below. Since I have written about this LFS twice before I just took a few photos of the fish around the store. As one of the LFS I visit on a regular basis I know it fairly well. Not a whole lot has changed, and this is a good thing when you are a top tier LFS.
It’s nice to walk into a store and know where to find what you are looking for. While at the same time looking to see what new fish they have. The biggest variable in any LFS is the livestock, because availability shifts at suppliers. New stock becomes available while others may sell out. My corydoras came from this LFS and this is significant to me as I had previously not been able to keep corys alive for long. These I have had now for 3 years. Corys are small, yet need a bigger tank to be happy. They also like being in a school, so I recommend 6 fish minimum, meaning 20g tank or bigger. Mine are in an 86g and there are about 15-18 fish in the school.
Sharon, the store owner and manager with 37 years' experience, has a wealth of aquarium related knowledge. In fact, all the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Over the years I have found their advice most helpful. This is one of the things a LFS offers which the big box stores simply cannot. For more pics checkout my previous blogs linked below. And if you have not visited this LFS before, maybe it is time.
