Recently I had the most delightful visit at Nature’s Box Pet Emporium (NBPE) in Aurora, CO. If you're not familiar with this LFS (Local Fish Store) then please look back at previous blogs at the links below. This place is really much more than an LFS. They carry all types of exotic tropical animals mainly focused on the cold-blooded type. NBPE specializes in chameleons, reptiles, and fish. Yes, I know chameleons are reptiles, LOL. They also have a wonderful selection of frogs, without a doubt the best in the state. I just so happened to be visiting just after feeding time, so it was fun to watch them pick off the fruit flies.
Another animal they have which no other has to their extent is Tarantulas. If you’re into arachnids or insects, they have quite a collection of them. And if they don’t have what you are looking for, I am sure they will do their best to find it for you.
All these wonderful animals need a safe and comfortable place to live within our homes and NBPE has you covered here as well. Lots of tanks, plants, hardscape, lighting, and supplies to set up the most awesome terrarium, vivarium, or aquarium possible. Speaking of aquariums, they have a large fish department with aquatic plants and a great selection of fish to choose from. Puffer fish are normally hard to find at LFS, but not here. Come by and visit their Fly River Turtle. A rare sight indeed. My photos of him here are limited, though I assure you the display is impressive. Another animal I did not photograph is the tortoises. They have a large enclosure in the corner. Getting back to the fish, they have everything from cichlids to livebearers. The fish I have gotten here have all done well.
As a recap, NBPE is the largest exotic pet store in the state and will probably have what you’re looking for or they can get it. The other thing I forgot to mention is the feeders. Yes, these animals have to eat and many of them like live food.
