Nature Box Pet Emporium, located at 13740 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015, remains a staple in the exotic pet world. They claim to be the largest pet store in Colorado. What I think they mean is largest exotic pet store in CO. As you will see in the photos below it is hard to counter this claim. It has been a favorite LFS of mine since before they moved into the new location.
As for criticisms of NBPE I have only one. Their selection of dry goods slants to one vendor, Aqueon. If you don’t like Aqueon products, then there are few other choices here. If you do like their products, then this is the place for you! They carry the full aquarium line from large tanks down to fish food and water conditioner. The other slight is the staff here has been turning over and I am not sure how well they know their aquariums. It’s likely the advice would be comparable to a big box store. There specialty remains in the reptilian world.
What I love about this LFS is their selection of fish and the displays. They have a huge pin of sulcata tortoises. Their Fly River turtle, Wilbur, has a huge display tank which is fun to visit. Every enclosure/tank in the store has beautiful animals and sometimes plants to view. If you really love this hobby, then you owe it to yourself to visit. My pictures will give you some idea of the wonder here, yet only an in-person visit can capture it all. They offer terrarium plants at a reasonable price which few other pet stores do. It is even hard to find these plants at nurseries in a small size to fit in our tanks.
So, if you love aquariums, terrariums, and paludariums, plus the critters who occupy them, this is your place! Did I mention Tarantulas? Yes, they have insect pets too. Not just as feeders either, wink, wink. NBPE deserves to be on your next fish crawl!
