MC Aquatics Update

Today I had a pleasant visit to MC Aquatics. They had almost everything I was looking for and a few things I was not looking for. Isn’t that the way it goes though. My main reason for visiting was to take a few updated pictures and see how the saltwater section was coming along. They have the tanks set up and all they are waiting on are racks for the frags. It should only be a few more weeks and that part will be going as well. The fish selection is top notch with lots to choose from. I love how they are decorating with live macroalgaes! I hear eventually they will actually be selling them. The store is still settling in, so I suspect it will take at least 3 more months for them to get the tanks seasoned and everything in its proper place.

There is still a lot of work going on with equipment sitting around and since the tanks are so high, they have these large ladders in the way making it hard to navigate in some areas. The shrimp tanks have algae growing which shows that are doing well and I am surprised to find little to no freshwater shrimp. See the pictures below. I started in back by the Saltwater section and worked my way forward to the front desk.

The freshwater section looks great! The plant rack really shows off the plants well. I ended up getting a few just because they looked so enticing. Their aquascaping display tank really looks great! My picture of it not so much. Too much glare. Speaking of glare, one of the saltwater tanks by the front with Banggal Cardinals is a perfect example of what happens if your aquarium gets direct sunlight. It was a green mess. For the most part the tanks were clean and attractive, though there were a few exceptions. The store is big, and I am sure it takes a lot to keep them all spotless. The staff is top notch by the way. So friendly and helpful. I enjoy chatting with them because they are knowledgeable as well as eager to meet the customer's needs. This LFS makes my top 5 list, so I recommend including them on your next fish crawl.

On a sadder note, I stopped by Ray’s Aquatics again to see if anything has changed and now the store is completely empty. If their closing is temporary, I would not expect to see them open again anytime soon. I really liked this store, so I am going to miss it.

If you know of any changes to your LFS please drop me a line by using the contact page. I do my best to stay informed, though there are a LOT of LFS in Colorado and I cannot make it to every store in the frequency I would like. Thanks for reading this blog and if you like it, please share with your friends.
