We all miss Neptune’s Tropical Fish Store, so here is how the market is adjusting. MC Aquatics seems to be getting most of her customers, though other LFS are seeing traffic too. I will be featuring three LFS in the coming days who are looking and finding the extra customers. We will start with MC Aquatics below and then tomorrow we will visit Aqua Culture in Parker and then Nature Box Pet Emporium in Aurora. The other store would be Aquatic Dog, though I have several blogs on them. I am sure the Denver west LFS’s, Fish Den, Golden Fish, and Pet World have picked up customers too. Please look back over my blogs as I have feature all these fish stores and more.

So, MC Aquatics is really settling in and by this I mean they seem like more of a neighborhood fish store than a box store. While they are quite a big store the feel there seems more personal. I visited on a Saturday and they were really busy. It was hard to get pictures without a person in the photo. The check out and dry goods area where you enter the store is cluttered with all sorts of merchandise including many items on sale. It is nice to see the shelves well stocked.

The next room, Freshwater, has more nanofish and even a new tank. In the photos below you’ll see the pricing which is better than I have seen in the past. This is very refreshing from my perspective. They have a wide selection of livebearers and other popular fish. The plant selection continues to be impressive with not only the huge plant tank full, they had two other tanks with plants available. The betta rack has been re-done and looks very nice. See the pics. The cichlid tanks continue to be well stocked and high priced. They do have good sales on going with the more popular fish.
The Saltwater room has evolved into an especially nice, well stocked area for the most part. They were short on salty fish, but have a good selection of coral. My photos in this area did not turn out very good so I suggest you check them out in person. It is nice to see both Charlie and Jag getting their hands wet with running the store, literally. Charlie is one of the owners and Jag is the store manager. It looks like to me they have responded to their customers and have gotten their act together. Give them another chance if you’ve had gripes with them in the past.
