MC Aquatics Now Open

MC Aquatics is now open for business! The address is 11800 Oswego St Unit D30, 40 & 60, Englewood, CO 80112. They have not published their hours yet, though I believe they will be 10-8 every day of the week. This is not their first store either. They have two others in FL and Virginia, with another soon to be open near Houston, TX. Charlie said they have aspirations to open other stores too and eventually having their own warehouse to distribute livestock to each of their stores. Technically, this eliminates them as a LFS, however I am making an exception here since they service the aquarium hobbyist. Check out their website for more on the other locations. It will be fun to see how they evolve.

On my tour through the store, we went through the back service area and the quarantine room is most impressive, as are the mechanical areas. He pointed out that every space is utilized with shelving up high and sumps down low. They only use RO or Seawater and will have it available for sale as well. Of the areas they have up and running I am impressed most by the shrimp selection and the saltwater fish. They have yet to get the standard freshwater fish tanks set up, however they do have the Cichlids available, and I must say, wow. A very nice selection! My photos of the tanganyikan fish did not turn out, so this is an excuse to visit! They have several fish not commonly found in our area. They will have a dedicated area for aquascaping supplies, plants, and hardscape. The plant tank is custom made and reminds me of the one at The Fish Crew. For those who live south of the Metro, it will be worth the drive to visit this store, especially since the options down that way are sparse. I think they purposely chose a location which is central to the whole state. A good move in my opinion.

The Saltwater room has a lot of work yet to go as they are still waiting on some custom tanks to come in. Mainly the ginormous frag tanks. As big as the room is, they will have many fish, corals, and inverts to serve your every need. I suspect it will be after the first of the year before they have this area fully put together. With their Florida connection they have access to some great corals and fish. I am told they will have Macroalgaes available too. Since this is an interest of mine, I am excited to see what they can get.

Since the store is so new, I cannot report on the quality of the livestock, except to say I am impressed with what I saw. They have plenty of staff, so the service should be excellent. Charlie and Mike are wonderful people, as most of us aquarists are, so this also works in our favor. This LFS is full service, has a beautiful store, and friendly helpful staff, so I expect much from them in the coming year. This really ups the game in the LFS market here in Colorado!
