This may or may not be premature, however here it is. MC Aquatics will be opening a new LFS in Englewood late this fall. The address is 11800 E Oswego St, unit D30, 40 & 60, Englewood, Colorado 80112. With 3 units they will have 5,000 sq ft of space. From what I have been told they will dedicate each unit to one of 3 areas, Saltwater, Freshwater, and Dry Goods. I am not sure how they will be connected yet, meaning if there will be a door inside leading to each area. Nor do I have any idea how they will be setting up each area. I do know they will have a large coral frag tank in the saltwater section. I believe the freshwater section will have a general focus with popular fish as well a few specialty fish.
Charlie and Michael Whife are the father & son owners and hail from the UK. They have two other stores in Miami, FL and Virginia Beach, VA. The Miami store specializes in saltwater and will be assisting them with livestock here in Denver. The Virginia store specializes in planted tanks and aquascaping, so they will be assisting with this. I suspect we will be getting the best of both worlds! They told me they have several good contacts with breeders in Germany and will be getting some unique species.
For those of you who attended the Colorado Aquarium Society Fall Auction last Saturday, you know they were one of the sponsors and donated 2 awesome Fluval Flex aquariums along with an AquaSky LED light. Not to mention other items. So, they are already making a name for themselves here in Colorado. Obviously, I will be reporting more as it gets closer to the December opening.
