Recently I visited my favorite LFS’s (Local Fish Stores) and so I thought it would be good to re-emphasize the best General LFS’s in the Denver Metro. Let’s start with Aquatic Dog. They continue to impress me by not only the stellar maintenance but the expansion they have been doing. If you like Goldfish, check out this store! They also have the best selection of nanofish in the state. You’ll not find monster fish or even large cichlids here, but they do have those at the Nature’s Box store. They also have amphibians, reptiles, arachnids, and dogs.
About Fish is probably the best freshwater LFS in the state. They do so many things well and only a few things not so great. The tanks take up most of the space in the store, so it can be difficult to walk around on a busy day. The other dish is the Bettas are kept in cup sized containers and while the water is constantly refreshed they cannot swim. This is fine if they are only there for a few days, but I doubt this is the case. These fish have probably been like this since spawning. Okay, this said, the rest of the store is well laid out and the wide selection of fish are well kept. The supplies are all at the check out counter and easily seen, plus the associates are eager to serve. I rarely have to wait for service. Not to mention they know their store, so if you don’t see it, just ask. They have a wide selection of cichlids, one of the best in the state. The prices are good too!
Now, let’s move into Saltwater. Reefstock takes place this weekend, so be there or be square. I hear they even have a few freshwater vendors. This is a great place to socialize, see the best vendors, and pick up a kewl coral. The giveaways are also abundant.
