The first stop was Alpine Koi and Reef. Please see my first blog on this store for a more in-depth review. Link is below this blog. The exterior of the store is unchanged, meaning it is still unassuming and a bit dated. Next door is the pond aspect to the business which is operated separately. Indoors the place is also much the same. The tanks are clean, and the fish appear healthy. About half the saltwater tanks were empty, though they seemed ready for more fish. The two frag racks were full of nice corals, the supplies looked fully stocked and cute garden items still filled the shelves up front. To the left and in the back the freshwater tanks were clean and full of fish and shrimp. Everything looked really good. This store reminds me of my youth when we would visit the LFS to find the latest fish or get supplies to setup a new tank. Alpine Koi and Reef is the antithesis of the Fish Crew in many ways, though they both have beautiful fish and all sorts of aquarium related supplies.
The Fish Crew was the last stop in Ft Collins, and I was not disappointed here either. They still have two fantastic show tanks in the entryway and a nice selection of tropical plants by the front window. The sale they had running was excellent and though they did not have as many customers today as last time I was here; they certainly had the staff to handle whatever came their way. If you like a flashy up to date, state of the art LFS, this is the place. As I said in my previous blog, this store has everything an aquarist would need. Everything from Aquascaping, shrimp, freshwater, plants, corals, and saltwater. They have all sorts of supplies, sell a wide selection of foods, offer RO and Seawater, plus they have the biggest display tank in all of Colorado. I do my best to stop in here whenever I am in Ft. Collins. I suggest you do the same.
