On a recent visit to Ft. Collins, I stopped by two of the three LFS in town. Each of the stores are basically the same. Here are my observations of each store.
Underwater Wonders has not changed their floor plan and from what I could see the tanks all looked really good as usual. They were not open when I stopped by, so all I could do is peer in the windows. My opinion of this LFS remains the same; they are one of the best Saltwater LFS in the state, especially when it comes to displays. Their sales actually come from the displays even though not all corals are for sale. They also focus on special orders and custom work. They are an installation and maintenance company first. If you are in the area, check them out. See my previous blogs on this LFS.
Alpine Koi and Reef remains on the market and unchanged since my last visit. They are not maintaining the tanks all that well, so if you are afraid of the usual saltwater pests I would stay away. This said they do have help working on the tanks keeping them good for the fish. The freshwater area also remains about the same. I did not go out back to see the Koi. There are not any photos since I did that well on my last visit. See below to for links.
The Fish Crew also remains about the same which is an educated guess since I did not visit on this trip. It is a gut feeling based on the many previous visits I’ve made. They continue to hold the best LFS in Colorado North of the Metro title.
Not much to report here, but I thought it worthwhile to note things remain good in Ft. Collins. By the by, if you know different, please let me know using the contact page on this website.
