The Fish Den on 5055 W 44th Ave, Denver, CO 80212, has everything you may need for your aquarium and then some. They have the best selection of new aquariums, hardscape, and products of any other LFS in the Metro. The choices include aquarium supplies, decorations, frozen foods, live foods, and they even have aquarium books. In the warmer months they have pond fish and plants available. This store takes me back to my youth. Yes, the store is a bit dated, and this adds to its charm.
The store is basically broken into 3 zones. The dry goods are where you enter the store to the left. To the right in a dark zone are the aquariums glowing with vibrant fish and decorations. It is easy to see the fish with the light low in the room. As you move around there are several narrow passages to get to the smaller fish. My size makes it very challenging to get through those areas, but I can do it. If I can, so can you! Coming out of this dark area there are aquatic plants and around the corner, used tanks, plus many tanks of cichlids. The used tanks make it very difficult to move around and see the fish. I did not even try.
At this point there is a door leading out to the pond area and another door leading into the saltwater zone. A beautiful display tank sits to the right as you enter the Saltwater area. To the left they have a list of all the livestock in the room with prices. This eliminates the need for pricing or labels on the tanks. One does need to know their fish and inverts though. Just ask if you need help identifying something in this area. Something I have not seen at any other LFS in the Metro; they have a shark! The invert and small reef fish wall is impressive with all the coral and decorations. The photos below show what I mean. If you have not been to this LFS, add them to your list. Certainly, if I lived closer I would be in this store more often. As a full service LFS, Fish Den certainly has all the bases covered.
