Fish Crew Best

Yesterday, I visited Fort Collins and did my usual rounds of LFS. I’m reassured of the future of the LFS. In a medium sized college town with a quaint feel I am transported back to my youth and the excitement of discovery. This feeling is certainly not found on the digital monitor! Now I have to admit I did not spend much time in these stores as I fit many stops into my day, not just LFS.

Fish Crew at 1414 E Harmony Rd #1, Fort Collins, CO 80525, was my first stop. They do not fail to impress, even after multiple visits over the years. The display tanks in the entry area are as pretty as ever and I love the wall of plants along the front window by the check out desk. The giant ~2000g saltwater display in the center of the store has been cleaned up and looks almost new again. The rack of shrimp is well stocked and also looking great. The plant selection is superb and something new is the expansion of the aquascaping area, complete with a design table. The aquariums along the outside wall are all well stocked and ready for the creative aquarist to find their next tank mate.

Getting over to the saltwater area things continue to be well stocked with healthy, attractive livestock. Now, I did notice a whole section by the seawater station is closed down, but done in a way that still looks attractive. The dry goods, equipment area is well stock though with a smaller selection of aquariums than I have seen in the past. One of the things this LFS prides itself on is customer service and the three associates I observed were busy doing just that and yet they managed to greet me and make sure I had help if needed.

As you will see in the photos below Fish Crew takes the title of Best All Around LFS in Colorado. They have always been in the top tier, though they do have some competition. Going by aesthetics, healthy livestock, friendly, helpful service, wide selection, and affordable pricing there is no other LFS which has it all. Interestingly the 2nd Best Saltwater LFS also resides in FOCO and will be featured next.
