We have an update on Exotic Aquatics. Myk Brown is actually the new owner and not Zane, who will be the store manager moving forward. It takes time to work out big sales like this these days, and so Luke sold the store to Myk when Zane backed out. All’s well that ends well. We pray. When I asked Myk what his vision is for the future of Exotic Aquatics here is what he had to say:
“To do it bigger and do it better! I want to make a social media presence for the shop. YouTube, Instagram, Facebook....still don’t know if I want to dabble with Tik-Tok, but that seems to be the new wave, so I'll probably end up doing that one too. I plan to eventually make Exotic Aquatics a safe haven for fish hobbyists. Yes, I got bills to pay, but I'm not money motivated here, and I think that's what's going to set me apart from everybody else. I'd like to set up a little lounge area with computers for people to research more on the fish they want to keep, husbandry, etc., and be a hang out spot for hobbyists, as well as a one stop shop for everything aquatic. Not a whole lot has changed while Luke was running the place, except he blacked out the windows to keep out the sun (algae blooms stink, Haha). And a little different organization. I will be completely revamping the place. We have a few awesome display tanks to set up that will also set us apart. I want to get more of the rare, uncommon species, as well as having the typical "bread and butter" species.”
There you have it, Boulder still has the historic Exotic Aquatics LFS, and things continue to evolve. I for one look forward to seeing it grow. Give them some time to get things remodeled and the online presence updated. And while the store is too far away for me to support them in person, perhaps those of you who live nearby will do so.
