Denver LFS Update

The stores I recently visited include Pet World, Golden Fish, and Fish Den. My goal was two fold, one to see what had changed and also find some Tanganyikan Cichlids for my rescape of the 48g Rimless tank. Let’s take them in order. Pet World offers freshwater fish including Cichlids and saltwater fish and supplies. The tanks here were in the process of being cleaned so I will just say the ones that were clean looked good. The fish are healthy and the selection average. There was not much here that impressed me on this visit. They had a nice pair of Brichardi which I considered, especially at the low price they had on them ($16ish). Otherwise not much has changed. Remember this can be a good thing as they do have a nice variety of supplies and fish.

Golden Fish remains unchanged as well, which again is a good thing. The tanks are clean and fish healthy. I actually found some nice shell dwellers and Daffodil Brichardi. There was a lone Orange Leleupi which I took home also, since I don’t like leaving anybody alone. Please check out my previous blog for pictures, links at the bottom of this blog, I did not take any on this trip. As I have mentioned before I like stores which focus on what they do well. Golden Fish does Cichlids, and other freshwater fish well. There are no fancy decorations in her tanks, only what the fish require to feel comfortable. So, if you are in the market for well-kept fish, add them to your fish crawl list!

Fish Den turned out to be my last stop, because I had fish in the car and needed to get them home. Not much has changed here either. Some of the aisles were blocked with tanks and I know in the past they have offered a few used tanks for sale. I did not inquire as to what they were there for. On the topic of tanks, Fish Den has the best selection of new aquariums in Colorado. They have lids and all you’ll need to set up either a budget or elite aquarium. They do not however have much in rimless tanks, for those see Aqua Rocks Colorado.

The takeaway here is Denver has some great LFS and so no matter where you live in the Metro there is a good local fish store to patronize. See my other blogs on the surrounding LFS. This will probably be my last blog before Christmas so enjoy your Holiday! Felis Navidad! Happy Hanukkah! Merry Christmas!
