Colorado Springs Update

Colorado Springs has 3 LFS now days and I must say they shine in the saltwater area, not so much for freshwater. Two of the stores have both. Tropical Treasures on 2212 E Platte Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, has not changed much since my last visit. They specialize in cichlids and saltwater. While they may have a few nanofish, they mainly have larger mainstream fish. Their display tanks are really nice and well established. The store was busy when I visited which is nice to see. If I lived in town, I would not hesitate to shop here depending on what I was looking for. They don’t have much in the supplies dept. but if it is fish you seek, check them out.

The other store that does both is Seascapes, 5038 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. The store is mainly the same as it has been which is a good thing. They focus on offering the mainstays in the aquarium hobby covering all the general bases. They have lots of saltwater fish, though only the popular ones. Same for the freshwater selection. They have plants, coral, and a good selection of dry goods. This is your basic aquarium store with a clean well-kept feel.

ReefKoi is one of my favorite saltwater LFS in Colorado. I got nice corals and fish from them this trip. If you are into saltwater tanks, make this your first stop. The prices are good, better than Denver for the most part and while this may not be worth a specific trip, I have gotten almost all my fish here even though it is an hour drive for me. See my other blogs on this store for photos and a list of services. While all three LFS in CS have saltwater selections, ReefKoi is by far my top choice.
