Colorado LFS Blog Status

Updated: Dec 13, 2023

Let me apologize for not getting a blog out sooner. This blog basically just explains the goings on in my world and the fish store (LFS) world in Colorado. After Thanksgiving I took a trip east to visit family and on the way home a week later I fell in a motel pool area. My back was not in good shape before the fall and it still bothers me to the point I am not going out much. Needless to say, I cannot visit LFS for a while. This leaves my knowledge of the LFS goings on to what is online, so basically what you know. I cannot say when the next LFS Blog will be coming out, except I will post one as soon as I have more information. Here is what I know for now.

There is a new LFS in Colorado Springs who focus on Saltwater. Inside Reef is located at 1820 Dominion Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. If you look it up on Google the store is a dance store. So they are new and we will just have to wait and see. They do mostly maintenance and installation while selling online. If anyone has any photos of the LFS, please contact me through Facebook. Until I confirm the reality of this LFS and that it truly is a LFS, it does not make my list.

The other developments I know of is MC Aquatics is becoming the biggest Fish Store in Colorado. The first store and main store is in Englewood, they just bought Murrman’s Reef and will have it re-branded and open soon. They are apparently in the process of opening a store in Pueblo, Colorado as well, but I don’t have any details on that. Someone else was talking of opening a LFS there and perhaps they got together? Regardless, I will stay on it and get any news I can out asap. Technically, this puts MC Aquatics in the Big Box category, though I am giving them some slack since they only sell aquatics. Does anyone know of any other Aquatics only chain stores in the U.S.? (Comment below) Thanks to all who support the Local Fish Store and who read this blog!

(UPDATE-12/13/23) While yes, MC Aquatics Denver is the new name and owner of Murrman’s, I was told by management it will take a few months before the store is remodeled to include Freshwater. Their goal is to have it done in the first quarter of 2024. They are still in the process of selling off the old stock and bringing in new. Jack Murray will be staying around as a team member of MC Aquatics, while I am sure he will also be working at the Reef Builders Studio. This is great news for all the fans of Murrman’s. It really sounds to me that this LFS will be upping its game considerably in the coming months. All I know about the Pueblo store is they will be opening in February of 2024.
