Nature Box Pet Emporium (NBPE), located at 13740 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015, remains the best LFS in the Colorado exotic pet world. As you will see in the photos below, the selection covers most everything you’ll need to keep your exotic pet happy. The list includes, lizards, snakes, small furry pets, arachnids and insects, and aquatic pets.
The store manager is doing a good job for the most part. They seem to be operating on a slim staff, so several of the aquariums had algae growing on the glass and I did spot a dead fish in one of the tanks. Mind you, this is not unusual, all LFS have losses. I have purchased fish here on several occasions and they always did well. I noticed they have a few more cichlids and uncommon fish than usual and this pleases me. They are attempting to cater more to the hobbyist rather than the novice, which I find refreshing. I hear they will be bringing in more brands of tanks and products while cutting back on the Aqueon brand. Expect to see some good sales come Black Friday next month.
There specialty remains in the reptilian world with aquaria second. For instance, the display tanks feature Iguana’s, Chameleons, plus they have a huge pin of sulcata tortoises. They have other displays around the store with lizards and amphibians. Their Fly River turtle, Wilbur, has a huge display tank to rival any LFS in Colorado. Every enclosure/tank in the store has beautiful animals and sometimes plants to view. Did I mention plants? They offer terrarium plants at a reasonable price which few other pet stores do. It is even hard to find these plants at nurseries in a small size to fit in our tanks. The aquatic plants they offer tend to sell out quickly. My pictures will give you some idea of the wonder here, yet only an in-person visit can capture it all. I attempted to show a few select fish this time along with the overviews. The photos end on my favorite display aquarium. So, if you love aquariums, terrariums, and paludariums, plus the critters who occupy them, this is your place!
