Aquatic Dog under New Management

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

Greg and Sheila are retiring, and they have sold the Aquatic Dog to Eric and Elisa from Nature’s Box Pet Emporium. Not much will be changing right away. They will still maintain the puppy sales and maintain the fish like they are now. In time there will be some changes, though Elisa says they want to get a feel for the clientele and the store. As far as I know they will still be partners at Nature’s Box, so this will be like an expansion of that store.

Sheila will be staying on to assist with the transition and get them up to speed with operations. I am not sure of any changes to the hours or details for any changes, so stay tuned and I will let you know when I know. The following is Sheila and Gregs official announcement. I wish them all the best in retirement. ...

“Good morning, everyone, Sheila here with some exciting news!

For over thirty years Greg and I have poured our lives into AquaticDog and it's been so much more than our family business.

When we opened the shop, it was the culmination of nearly a decade of dreaming and planning. Greg and I met & fell in love in the early 80s, working together at a Pet City in the old Buckingham mall. In those days, we always dreamed of having our own store and after 10 years, we did it - married with two kids and a menagerie of animals in tow!

Over the years we've been so lucky to love each of the pets that we've cared for before they find their forever homes, and what has been most impactful for us are the families who come to us and trust us with such an important decision. And seeing many of your kids grow up and come to us when they are looking for their first pet as adults has been such a joy!

This is a place where families have come for their first pet or after the loss of a beloved companion, trusting us in the search for their next puppy or kitten. In some cases, returning 10, 12, 15 years after they bought their first pet from us for a new addition.

Our clients are our friends, our family and you are the reason that our small family business has withstood the test of time through all the ups and downs over the years!

During that thirty years, our children have grown up and along with you we've loved six shop cats (and lost them too soon). We watched Denver grow exponentially in size, have been through recessions AND a pandemic. We expanded the store and changed the name, and our grandchildren became the 3rd generation to work in the shop! But most importantly, we have become a part of this community - and for that, we're incredibly grateful!

And so, with that folks, it is with all the warmth and gratitude of those three decades worth of service that we have made the difficult but exciting decision to pass on the torch to a new family who is equally as passionate about pets and customer relationships.

You'll meet Elisa and Eric and their wonderful little son Jackson as they have take the reins at AquaticDog - With 18 years' experience they also have a passion for pets they'll focus making genuine connections, values and community that comes from owning a small business.

As we begin our next chapter, we are wishing them all the best on their new adventure! To our AquaticDog family, thank you for everything over the years & we look forward to bumping into you as fellow customers soon 😄

- Sheila & Greg, owners of AquaticDog 05/1999-01/2023”

Eric and Elisa will be making an announcement next week about the future of AquaticDog. So, stay tuned for that.
