Aquatic Dog has long been my favorite LFS and continues to be so. They are located on the NE corner of Illiff & Quebec. This area is the far east part of Denver and convenient to most anybody on this side of town. The road construction in the area is mostly complete so traffic delay is less of a concern. As you may or may not remember, they are under new management and many changes have been made. Read this article for more on the transition. The new owners have expanded the store’s selections, refined the stocking of supplies, and are focusing on what they enjoy most. All pets! They still have the Axolotl tank along with a breeding setup. They have one display tank of Saltwater and eventually they will have a few tanks dedicated to saltwater with the basic fish and inverts for the novice.
The aquatic department is basically the same, except they now have an expanded section of Goldfish tanks. If you are in the market for a nice Ranchu or Fantail, check with them for availability. The one thing I love most about this store is the wide selection of nano fish. This has not changed! They have some beautiful Betta available as well as aquascaping plants. I still find fish here I have never seen at any other store. I did so today, Skull Creek Rainbowfish! Aquatic shrimps are available, along with a variety of snails. Everything you need to set up a complete ecosystem.
The dogs are still here and the supplies area for them has been expanded, as has the cat supplies, though they do not have cats for sale. Check out the photos below for a view of the changes. I focused more on the whole store this time and not just the fish. They now carry reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids both as feeders and as pets. Go check them out, perhaps you’ll be as pleased as I am with the changes.
