Aquatic Dog has gotten salty. This exotic all around pet store is located on the NE corner of Illiff & Quebec. This area is the far east part of Denver and convenient to most anybody on this side of town. The new owners have expanded the store’s selections, refined the stocking of supplies, and are focusing on what they enjoy most. All pets! They still have the Axolotl tank along with a breeding setup. They have expanded into Saltwater now and are dedicated to basic salty fish and inverts for the novice. The aquatic department is basically the same, except they now have an impressive 4K goldfish tank at the front desk. If you are in the market for a nice Ranchu or Fantail, check with them for availability.
The one thing I love most about this store is the wide selection of nano fish. This has not changed! They have some beautiful Betta available as well as aquascaping plants. I still find fish here I have never seen at any other store. Aquatic shrimp are available, along with a variety of snails. Everything you need to set up a complete ecosystem. The focus here is on ecosystems, which I love! The tank selection is limited, though they will order just about any tank or livestock you desire depending on if they can find it. Talk to them, they are most helpful.
The dogs are still there and the supplies area for them has been expanded, as has the cat supplies, though they do not have cats for sale. They have some new enclosures for small dogs and jumpy dogs. Their focus on caring for the pets they offer is top notch. They now carry reptiles, amphibians, and insects both as feeders and as pets. See my photos below to get an idea of the quality and selection they offer. Even if you don’t live in the area, I suggest visiting this awesome LFS. They are open till 6pm on Friday’s so plan a stop here before attending the Colorado Aquarium Society meeting not far down the road.
