Aqua Rocks Colorado

Aquascaping has been coming into its own for over a decade, and recently the Front Range has a new player in the LFS game who bring the Denver Metro into the forefront of the industry. Originally the store was run out of the owner's home, then last year they moved into a store front in Aurora. They were having issues with the unit owners and a leaky roof, so they decided to move again, expanding their space 4-fold. The new store is coming together nicely and will serve theirs and our needs for years to come. It can be found at 6771 E 50th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022. Their hours of operation are 10-6 Monday thru Saturday and Sunday 11-5.

They specialize in hardscape, rimless aquariums, aquatic plants, the lights to grow said plants, and all the other supplies needed to make a living work of art. They also do home maintenance and installation for those who don’t feel they have the skill to setup an aquascape on their own. The store has many eye-popping display tanks and more in the works. I love visiting just to enjoy the tanks and talk with Tommy, the owner. If you seek rare and unusual plants for your aquarium, whether or not it is elaborately scaped, this is the place to come. Their prices are very competitive too. I have replaced all 3 of my aquariums with ones from here. Tommy is extremely knowledgeable, so just ask if you need help with anything aquarium related. I have gotten several valuable tips that make the hobby not only easier, but more rewarding as well.

The store sells online, in person, and wholesale to those who qualify. As a space, this “LFS in a warehouse” is perfectly situated for the type of business they have, though it does distract from the retail aspect. The old store had a nice retail space for display tanks and supplies, while this store has half that space and it is not yet fully setup. I am sure in a few more weeks it will be looking more presentable. They have a newborn in the family so their hands are full! I also would like to point out that they do not sell fish, though at their Grand Opening today, they had Ben Moua there with his Betta fish. I know of no other store in CO that has anywhere near the selection of rock and driftwood that they do here. If you are setting up a planted tank, you owe it to yourself to visit.
