Aqua Imports Rare and Common

Today I visited Aqua Imports yet again, so you know what to expect next time you venture to Boulder. While the choices for LFS's in Boulder County are slim, they haven't always been slim. Aqua Imports survives on a few key things. They have what no other store nearby has, and they have embraced the 21st century thru internet sales. If you like the personal touch in your search for fish, plants or salty pets then I do recommend this LFS. The staff is knowledgeable, caring, and competent. I took a few pics while there as I usually do and would like to try something different in this blog. I will Post the pics below and then share a few thoughts about it, three at a time.

As we enter the store, they have aquascaping supplies along with Ultum Nature System tanks. The frozen food by the door is in a new easy to view freezer along with other nutritional foods. The store policy's and license is posted right on the front counter, so I took a pic so you could see them in advance.

They offer reptiles and amphibians along with the supplies to make a nice terrarium or paludarium. It is nice to find plants like this, because so few stores offer them.

These speak for themselves. Setting up a dart frog tank? AI sells what you need.

The giant 500g tank has new fish and I really like it! The fish are beautiful and engaging.

The supplies are to the right as you enter and up a few steps. One thing new in the front room is aquatic plants and substrates. It's nice having them close to the register so if you forgot....

The saltwater section has not been up to par since before the pandemic. Ugly tanks, salt stains, and exposed systems are just the cosmetic issues.

In the back the freshwater area is about the same as usual. Decent prices and both common fish and hard to find ones.

AI has always had nice plants and we can see where their giant gourami is now residing.

Last but not least the Cichlid room looks as good as always and the goldfish and koi are ready for summer!

All in all, Aqua Imports has all a hobbyist needs and more. If you have not been, then put them on your Fish Crawl list. Check with them if looking for a rare or unusual fish and even if they are not close by, they sell online and will ship it to you!
