Aqua Culture

Two weeks ago, Tropical Pet Oasis in Parker, CO closed its doors permanently. The store has been purchased and is now open in the same location. Not much has changed for now, though Aqua Culture is just getting going. They are maintaining the weekend hours of TPO by being open by appointment only during the week and open Friday 1-7 and Saturday 10-6. The location stays the same, 10336 Dransfeldt Rd #8, Parker, CO 80134.

The new owner Tariq’s thing is saltwater corals. They are having a sale this weekend, 50% off all freshwater items in the store, so they will be saltwater only soon. He says he will maintain a single tank of freshwater fish and plants off site for those who make special requests. If you seek a specific fish, he will happily find it for you. This goes for saltwater too of course. The pictures below of tanks set up as freshwater will be either taken down or converted to saltwater. They have an entire other space where they ‘culture’ corals and inverts. He said this space which is not open to the public will be where they quarantine all the corals and fish they sell. Practically no other LFS in Colorado does this! Most fish stores quarantine in place, so they treat the entire tank in the store and just don’t sell out of that tank till it is cleared. He plans on having the QT livestock available by Christmas. He is also going to do some remodeling in the store over time, so by next year the place will be looking a lot different. He offers both seawater and RO water for those who bring a container. I did not see any live rock though I am sure he can acquire whatever you need, just ask! All the supplies and foods are in the front as soon as you enter the store, near the check-out counter. I am sure for good reason.

It is hard to critique a new store, so I will only say the dead fish, algae, and empty tanks have a pass this time. I expect great things from this store! Tariq will be taking the previous store to a new level. Before I forget, he does not do installations or maintenance, but he will refer you to someone who is very skilled in do so. If in the Parker or southeast Denver area, Aqua Culture is worth a visit. The selection of fish right now, while being light, reflect the popular saltwater fish in demand by hobbyists. I am sure over time things will improve as Tariq gets the place settled in. I wish him and his store great success!
