Alpine Koi and Reef as a full service LFS, is located at 2715 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Their hours are Mon – Sat 9-5, and Sun they are closed. While Koi and Saltwater aquariums are their specialty along with Ponds, they also do freshwater fish, shrimp, and aquatic plants. The store has a large selection of aquarium products to satisfy the neediest aquarist. In the back they have the Koi undercover to protect them from both the elements and predators. There are several ponds with aquatic plants as well as potted specimens for sale. The display pond with a nice waterfall makes visiting well worth the trip. To the east of the main building is their other business Pond World for wholesale business. The store has suffered from poor maintenance recently since they are in the process of finding a new owner. Several offers have yet to solidify, so there is still time to get into the game.
For the most part the livestock and tanks are doing just fine. The saltwater tanks have some pests, some more than others, and the freshwater tanks have some algae. I hear several of the larger tanks have already been spoken for when it comes time to change hands. Their collection of macroalgae is probably better than any other LFS I have seen in the state. Let’s pray they fall into good hands. What the future holds here is not clear, for now.
